5erWest 2010 Event Wrap-up
Based on turnout and your feedback,
it’s official…5erWest 2010 was a
massive success!
I
would like to thank everybody who
registered and was able to come out
to make 5erWest one of the best BMW
shows that I’ve ever attended. I was
just blown away by all those
beautiful cars. I was unable to
really get an accurate count. I
figure it was somewhere between
80-90. Here is as close as I can get
to a “rough” breakdown.
E12s - 2
E28s - 40
E34s - 20
E39s - 10
E24s - 5
We
also had e3, e9, 2002, e21, e30, e36
and e46s. OH… and I can’t forget to
mention the clean 1983 Audi quattro
turbo coupe!
I
did not vote for the “Best of
Chassis” awards, but just by looking
at all the cars and from counting
the ballots, it was pretty close.
Award/Photo plaques from nwBMWclub
were presented to the owners who’s
cars received the most votes from
5erWest attendees.
Frank Haas, of White Salmon,
Washington took the e12 prize for
his amazing and rare authentic 1981
Alpina B7.
Portland native, Simon (aka Dinan
e28) was rightly awarded for his
minty clean e28.
John “SCB” Farnsworth made the trip
from Long Beach, California to
collect his prize for his stunning
black e34 Alpina 535i. He even let
me take his photo!
Although we did not have a plaque
for this years e39 category, Brecus
Motorsport presented a special award
to Jamie Bopp for his gorgeous 2003
540 M-Sport.
5erWest had several fantastic
sponsors who generously donated
items to help support this years
event. I had known early that I
don’t like the idea of paying to
register for car shows. Instead, I
decided to raffle off our sponsors
donations to help nwBMWclub cover
the costs of hosting this event. So,
Thank you 5erWest sponsors and
thanks to everybody who purchased
our raffle tickets. You helped
support this fantastic event while
some of you went home with some
amazing prizes!
Creative Options donated 6 sets of
shifter/e-brake boots.
Brecus Motorsport donated a UUC
Short Shift Kit, special pricing for
the e39 winner and several 25% off
coupons, and some cool UUC hats.
Miller Performance gave away 2
complete Miller MAF conversion kits
which included their WAR chip.
BK
Customs donated 5 custom front and
rear strut tower bars.
Portland BMW ACA donated a full day
at their High Performance Drivers’
schools.
Fiorano Ristorante stepped up at the
last minute to provide the catered
lunch. Not only did they bring us
some great grub, but they showed up
in a couple more e28s for our show.
I loved it!
If
you enjoyed 5erWest, PLEASE drop an
email to our sponsors and let them
know that you appreciate what they
did to help make this event
possible.
We
sold out of our official 5erWest
2010 shirts pretty quickly, but if
you would like to purchase one, we
will put up some info on how to do
that. If you can’t wait to get your
order/payment in. Please paypal $25
(to cover shipping) to
nwbmwclub@comcast.net. Be sure
to include your size request and
shipping info. It will take a couple
weeks to get all the orders
together, so shirts will ship out
near the end of June.

I
would like to take a second to give
special recognition to NwBMWclub
member and good friend, Tyler and
his wife Kirsten for all their help
making 5erWest happen. I couldn’t
have done it without you guys!
Turner, your bed was nice and cozy.
Oh… and the weather gods were
pleased!
See you all
in 2011!
